Schmidt Hammer

Silver Schmidt Hammer

Silver Schmidt HammerThe new Silver Schmidt comes in both N and L configurations. It has two distinct advantages over the original Schmidt.

Firstly the new measurement using the quotient of the impact and rebound velocities increases the sensitivity in so that measurement is now possible between 10-100MPa and is not effected by gravity making the unit useful in 360deg of operation with no correction. With the Mushroom Head the range is increased to 5-100MPa.

Secondly this lightweight digitalized unit does all of the computation internally. Using saved standard settings the unit can used on site without any set up to give immediate strength results.

Original Schmidt Hammer

The classic Original Schmidt concrete test hammer (rebound hammer) is equipped with a sensor which measures the rebound value of a test impact to a high resolution and repeatability. Rebound is an effective non-destructive measurement of the concrete compressive strength (to within 20%) and control of the uniform concrete quality (in-situ concrete and prefabricated structures).

  • Type N Schmidt Hammer - the workhorse of the range
  • Type L Schmidt Hammer- an impact-energy, three times smaller than the Type N
  • Type NR & LR Schmidt Hammer - recorded as a bar chart on a paper strip

Digi Schmidt

Digi Schmidt The Digi-Schmidt replaces the mechanical gauge with an electrical transducer and therefore digitizes the process. Operating is menu-guided in different languages. The DIGI-SCHMIDT 2000 is available in two versions:

  • Type ND- suitable for concrete components of 100 mm thickness or more
  • Type LD- suitable concrete components of thickness less than 100mm and on cast stone material

Test Anvils

Each test hammer should be checked after 1000 test impacts. A testing anvil is used to check whether the rebound test mechanism is working correctly. Cleaning or inspection will be required in case of contamination by very fine cement or due to wear. The all new Silver Schmidt can be calibrated with the same anvils as Digi-Schmidt or Original Schmidts, however the addition of a new collar attachment is required for the anvil to accept the new cross-sectional shape of the Silver Schmidt body.
