LMX-100 Utility Location GPR


The sensor and software LMX-100 is designed specifically to make marking utilities with GPR simply and easy. As one of the most affordable GPR utility locating tools, LMX-100 completes the locator's toolbox, offering a more complete picture of the underground infrastructure.


Ground penetrating radar (GPR) technology uses radio waves to image objects in the subsurface. The subsurface may consist of soil, rock, asphalt and other materials. GPR systems emit high frequency radio wave pulses and detect the echoes that return from objects within the subsurface. hyperbolaEchoes are produced when the target material is different from the host material (eg. PVC pipe in gravel) The GPR display shows signal amplitude versus depth (time) and sensor position along a line. This is called a "Line Scan". Since radar energy radiates in a 3D cone shape rather than a thin beam, a hyperbola (or inverted U) is the GPR response from a small point target like a pipe, rock, or a tree root. The radar wave hits the object before and after going over it and forms a hyperbolic reflection that can appear on the record even though the object is not directly below the radar. Grid scans are conducted to generate depth slices over a given area. This is useful for locating all known and unknown objects, as well as their orientation, in a graphical manner that is easy to interpret.

The LMX-100 system is also available with the new style High Resolution DVL screen. This unit improves operator workflow with unique features such as mini-reports in the field sent to any email using the systems built in WiFi connection.  The additional system features include;

LMX100 onsiteLMX-100 offers the perfect balance of depth penetration and resolution for accurate locating. Data is collect in Locate and Mark mode; this provides a real-time image in the field to identify utilities and mark their locations.

LMX ImageView Software

Data screen images can be captured and transferred from the compact flash card to a PC and displayed using the LMX ImageView software.
