Platens

A large variety of cylinder, cube or similar samples, are tested by using the platens.

Constructed from high quality hardened steel, the roughness value for the surface texture is ≤ 3.2 µm.

Models

UTC-4512, UTC-4513 and UTC-4517 have centering rings on the lower platens for proper centering of 100 mm and 150 mm cube, 100 mm and 150 mm cylinder samples.

Ø 300 mm UTC-4517 has a specimen centering apparatus on lower platen as standard or 150m cube and 150 dia. cylinder
UTC-4515 is suitable for block and brick testing.

Specifications

Block Platens with Sliding Rail Assembly

The Block Platens with Sliding Rail Assembly are installed on the compression testing machines for testing concrete blocks and other structural materials. With use of the Sliding Rail Assembly, platens are able to be easily installed without having to remove the existing UTC-4517 compression platens.

This option can only be used with UTC-5727, UTC-5737, UTC-6727, UTC-6737 and UTC-6748 compression testing frames and the assembly must be factory installed, therefore selected with equipment order. Please note that after installation of the UTC-4620, the vertical clearance between the platens will decrease by 50mm.

The accessory Block Platen Lifting Assembly is used for easy removal of the lower platen of the Block Platens with Sliding Railed Assembly and easy replacement of the distance pieces between the piston and the lower platen. 

Distance Pieces

The vertical clearance between the upper platen and lower platen can be recuded by using the distance pieces. 2000 kN , 3000 kN and 4000 kN machines are supplied with 205 mm dia. distance pieces and 600 kN and 1500 kN machines are supplied with 165 mm dia.

Larger distance pieces are equipped with handles.
