Collect high-density, georeferenced GPR data across wide areas and view the subsurface in 3D as you scan. Choose the GX2 array for SUE and utility mapping, or the GX1 array for structural, bridge and pavement investigations.
Why use the GS9000 instead of a conventional single-channel GPR?
Cover more ground
Collect multiple parallel profiles in one pass instead of uilding a grid line by line.
See results during acquisition
View georeferenced radargrams and time-slice information in the field rather than waiting until the data is returned to the office.
Produce repeatable mapped data
Combine wheel-positioned GPR data with GNSS, project coordinates and survey linework.
Use one platform for two very different applications
Exchange GX1 and GX2 arrays without purchasing two complete cart platforms.
High-density 3D GPR mapping for SUE and utility investigations
The GX2 transforms the GS9000 into a high-density subsurface utility mapping system. Its 11-channel, low-frequency GPR array captures an 83 cm-wide swath in each pass, helping operators detect and map buried pipes, ducts, cables, voids and other subsurface features. Live georeferenced data lets SUE teams review coverage on site and produce accurate CAD, GIS and project-coordinate deliverables.
Utility corridor mapping
Detection of pipes, ducts and cables
Mapping non-conductive services that may not respond to electromagnetic locating
Congested service investigations
Road-crossing and easement surveys
Potential void and cavity investigation
Pre-excavation and design-stage surveys
Utility mapping to project or local coordinates
The SUE field workflow
1. Plan the survey
Load satellite imagery, CAD information, project coordinates or survey control.
2. Collect dense multichannel data
Survey an approximately 0.82 m-wide swath with 11 channels in each pass.
3. Review data live
Examine radargrams, georeferenced time slices and marked features while still on site.
4. Interpret and digitise
Add points, linework, tags, photographs and field observations.
5. Process and deliver
Merge survey areas, apply processing and export mapped information for the customer’s CAD, GIS or reporting workflow.

Coating thickness measurements are commonplace in construction applications, especially measuring the applied thickness of waterproofing membrane. Specifications usually call for a minimum coating or paint thickness. We generally supply the PosiTector 200 C or the PosiTector 200 D for this application, the 200 D has an extended range and suitability over rubbery or thick coatings.
Support and Training for Waterproofing Thickness Gauges in Australia
PCTE are committed to supporting the correct application and use of the Positector 200 range and ultrasonic measurement tools in general. Our support includes operation training, including the use of Graphics mode to troubleshoot difficult measurements such as Cementitous Waterproofing Membranes or PolyUrea membranes.
2 year warranty – covers both the body and probe
Quick maintenance turnaround as we have a local, trained full-time technician at our service centre in Sydney, NSW
A free training session on theory and operation is included with every purchase of the Ultrasonic Film Thickness product range (e.g. PosiTector 200 C3, PosiTector 200 D3)
PCTE offers a 2-hour training session to discuss theory and teach how to use the gauge
It is critical to be trained as users interpret the output of the gauge, adjust and configure for accurate measurements – this is the same for all ultrasonic coating thickness gauges.
Local stock
PCTE's Sydney warehouse maintains stock of DeFelsko equipment including the Positector 200.
How to select your probes
Choose your substrate:
Type B (Polymer coatings on wood, plastic, etc.)
Type C (Waterproofing and other coatings on concrete, fiberglass, etc.)
Type D (Waterproofin and Thick, soft coatings such as polyuria, asphaltic neoprene, very thick polymers, etc.)
Standard body models measure the total thickness of a coating system and are only recommended for simple applications, they are not suitable for waterproofing applcations.
Advanced models measure a total thickness of a coating system or up to 3 individual layer thicknesses in a multi-layer system of clean coatings. They also feature graphic readout for detailed analysis of the coating system, vital when measuring waterproofing.
The selection of probe determines both the maximum thickness that can be measured and the precision of the measurement.
Type C (PosiTector 200C3) is for standard coating measurement on concrete, and type D (PosiTector 200D3) is better for thicker coatings. Type B is more commonly used for testing over wood but does have a finer resolution when measuring multiple layers within a coating.
